The Adams Museum hosted a members appreciation night last night. This small town museum in Deadwood is famous for the artifacts they house stemming from the gold rush days of the Black Hills. In fact, they were consultants on the HBO series Deadwood because of the original source material in their archives.

They were recently gifted the entire historical records of the Homestake Mine, which is now housed in a separate building. This asset is so huge that they are still figuring out what they have and what to do with all of it.

A special display for this event was a series of paintings by a local artist depicting Deadwood's ladies of the night. As my cousin introduced me to the artist, he looked into my eyes and asked, "Have we met?" I laughed and confessed that I had knocked on his front door to ask if I could gather some seed from the plants he has in his garden, so that I could plant them in mine.
