I haven’t talked much about endorsements in this blog because they are listed at our home page for all to see. But, this campaign is extremely pleased to have received the endorsement of the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel.

The amusing inside the campaign story is that I learned about the endorsement when I went to the Facebook page to post that I was going to be at a candidates forum in Battlement Mesa last night. Our new media director knew my schedule, so instead of telling me that we had received this endorsement, he just told the world!

The best thing about the endorsement is that the Sentinel focused on what I’ve been saying about jobs and the engine that creates them—small business. The interview with the Sentinel board covered a wide range of topics, including the importance of education in a democracy and the workplace. But, just as I have said all along, the most important thing for our state right now is a focus on jobs. We have to find creative solutions to get Colorado back to work.

In addition to a link to the Sentinel’s endorsement, our first TV commercial is posted at Facebook. This ad will start airing on all three local broadcast stations on Saturday. We have quite a few ads in the works, so it won’t always be the same one over and over and over.

If you recall, from the very beginning we said that we needed an army of volunteers to run and win this race. We have been blessed with getting what we need when we need it. A professional advertising executive volunteered to help us find the best media mix for our message. Our new media director found volunteers for everything from voice-overs in ads to small businesses willing to be featured to script writers for commercials. We were able to use volunteers to put everything together, so our money could be used to buy the air time.

Here’s a HUGE thank you and big hug to everyone who has been working to get us to this point. Now get back to work. We have an election to win.
