He was disappointed when he learned that he could not vote for me, since he lived in House District 55, instead of House District 54, where I lived.
Dad can’t speak very clearly right now because of his stroke. And he is frustrated as hell that he can’t. But he is quite aware of what is going on. When I personally delivered the News Releases about my switch from a House campaign to a Senate campaign, the first person I delivered it to was my Dad at the rehab center. When I read it to him, he grinned from ear to ear. I told him he could vote for me now.
Because of my late entry into the race, I won’t officially be endorsed by the party until the State Convention. At today’s county Assembly I will collect 75 delegates to the state convention. At the Garfield County Assembly next Saturday I will collect 2 delegates.
I’m very fortunate that Colorado’s Secretary of State will introduce me at our county Assembly today. Last night the Democratic candidate for Governor, Hickenlooper, said he would help me get elected. Earlier this year Mark Udall said he’d campaign for me this fall. I’m going to need all the help I can get.
Dad, this race is dedicated to you. Win or Lose I’m going to give it my all.
