Much of my time right now is spent dealing with the logistics of getting my mother to the hospital. Today is the third full day after Dad's stroke. He isn't talking, although he clearly said "home" to me, and that broke my heart. Dad isn't going home for a long time, and it is still 50/50 whether he will survive this medical emergency. He can't swallow, so we will have to decide soon how aggressive to get in his care. He clearly told us that he doesn't want extraordinary measures taken, but we are reluctant to just let go.
